Is it possible to do what you currently are doing and still provide more to your family? Can you have your career and still have a legitimate business or hustle on the side? Can you eventually see yourself doing your side hustle as a full time gig? (That’s another blog post for another day) But seriously, is it possible?
Most people think that you have to quit your 9 to 5 to make it happen, but that doesn’t have to be the case. People have mastered a way to follow their dreams by hanging on to their day jobs while taking the time to build a business they want on the side.
It’s not always possible and realistic to just drop what you are doing and move to the next best thing, you still need a safety net. Keeping your current job and adding something to the side is a good way to get started and keep your life running while the pursuit of your dream is still an arm’s reach away.
A side hustle can be a good thing for your career if that’s where you intend to stay. It can make you new connections, network with new people and hone in on new skills that could help you in the long run.
If you want a change, a side hustle puts you in the driver’s seat. It makes you take the initiative to get the training and experience you need to be successful.
When you get to the point that you have the freedom to make the choice of whether or not to keep your side hustle, you can take the time to make an informed decision.
As long as your hustle enables you to chase your dreams and find a fulfilling lifestyle, you can’t go wrong with that, right?
So, now that you have made the decision that you want a side hustle, now what do you do?
Make a list of your hobbies, talents, and skills.
What are you passionate about? What do you love? What are you good at?
Narrow that list down to one thing you can see yourself spending a lot of time on.
This needs to be something you are passionate about. If you are adding this to your already full life it needs to be something you are motivated to do.
Find someone that can help you get started.
The most crucial thing to know is that you need someone to help you get started. Someone that will answer your questions, someone to help you along the way, someone who can get you connected to a tribe of people who have your same goals.
